ANGUILLA, BWI – Last week, Cap Juluca welcomed international travel writers to the charms, natural beauty and exciting activities offered by this iconic beachfront resort. The press trip took place as Cap Juluca was recently given the prestigious distinction of “Best Dining Experience in the Caribbean” by the 2016 Condé Nast Johansens Award committee.
Secretary of Tourism Cardigan Conner welcomed the well-respected trio of journalists at a welcome dinner on Maundays Beach. The group included Becca Hensley, a freelance writer based in Austin, Texas, who is a regular contributor to publications including Brides, Bridal Guide, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, Austin Monthly, Coastal Living, among many others. Visiting from Columbia, South Carolina, was Katie McElveen, a freelance writer who covers travel, lifestyle, fitness, health and food for Atlanta, Georgia’s Seasons Magazine, South Carolina’s Columbia Living and Charleston Living and many other outlets. Writer Susan Moynihan based in Winter Park, Florida, is traveler-in-chief of The Honeymoonist, a destination honeymoon/wedding travel site, and she writes for TripAdvisor, USA Today, Organic Spa, Destination I Do and others.
The fun, relaxing as well as invigorating itinerary for the Anguilla trip featured morning yoga sessions on the resort’s plush lawn by guest instructor Patty Coan, in-room massages, a private boat trip and picnic to other island beaches, cocktails at Maundays and a tour of Cap Juluca’s stunning Jonquil Suite – particularly perfect for Caribbean destination honeymooners. In addition to the welcome dinner, Connor accompanied the group on some of the activities including a sunset sail cruise, dinner in Spice and a boat tour. A culinary highlight was a fine dining experience at Wine Spectator, award-winning Pimms – hosted by Linda Hickox with Nat Hodge from The Anguillian in attendance – and highlighted by a surprise private performance by Omari Banks performing “I Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.”
