The Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport in Anguilla was a scene of a considerable amount of traffic over the past several days as executive jets roared in and out of the island.
The occasion was the American Thanksgiving holiday which saw a number of ‘the rich and famous’, and their families, flying into Anguilla to spend time at some of the island’s upmarket resorts.
Their arrival provided a boost to the island’s tourism statistics for November. The jets they travelled on brought much-needed traffic to the airport where, in addition to the operations of local and other Caribbean-based aircraft, passenger flights need increased frequency.
The jets flying direct to Anguilla are mainly from various parts of the United States and are handled by Lloyd’s Aviation Services. In addition to having a counter at the in the Terminal Building, the company operates parking facilities at the eastern shoulder of the airport and at the middle shoulder where it owns a fuel service.
The next large number of jet aircraft will be flying to Anguilla over the coming Christmas and New Year Season when a greater number of travellers will be visiting the island to take up their hotel bookings.
