God has been with this beautiful island of Anguilla during those difficult years of uncertainty and ever so present in today’s moments and will be present in the future.
We, as a people, need to take time out, pause and look at works manifesting. God always knows and has done what is best for us (God) also give us our way to do things without intervening. He has been among us throughout our history, but I would look from 1967 until 2015 because our conversation speaks from there. Those reading this article should do your reflections and look at God’s works proving to us who HE is and allowing us to prove our worth.
Our conversations are specifically of the periods 2007, 2008, 2009. They is no conversation for the period of February 16, 2010 to April 21st, 2015. It appears that no one existed on the island then. During the April 22, 2015 to present the island burst into life with the Banking Bill, a big topic for the Concerned Citizens, AUM party and others. Each wants to play the trump card, speaking on the same topic, but can’t come together to form one united protest organization. They are like those of the Tower of Babel cannot understand each other, with conflicting decisions and suggestions.
Joseph, of biblical times told his brothers about his dreams and that in them they would bow down to him. This disturbed them and filled them with jealousy, hatred and anger. The report they gave to their father was killed. Similarly in 2010 there was the saying “We gotta get rid of Victor” and “We have killed Victor. Let him remain dead”. Joseph was saved by God to provide for the nation during that difficult period. His brothers received food from him but didn’t even recognized him. It was sometime after that they realized who he was.
Victor and his A.U.F party won six out of seven seats. Victor publically forgave all who have done wrong against him, have they accepted? Have they recognized they have lost all seven seats? What happen when the brothers recognize him (Joseph)? They all bowed before him. Victor F. Banks along with his other members of Government, putting all heads together, is equivalent to the wisdom given to King Solomon to lead Anguilla. God moves in mysterious ways, Hs wonders to perform. As my Pastor Rev. Wycherley Gumbs would tell us in Bible study ever so often, God works in mysterious ways.
