The Governor’s Office in collaboration with the Anguilla Red Cross, had the distinct pleasure of holding a reception to celebrate international Volunteering Day and thank Anguilla’s Volunteers and unsung Heroes who give their time and much more to support so many good causes. The rain only brought everyone closer together at the event hosted by the Deputy Governor. The guests present were treated to inspiring stories, great music, lovely carol singing and a warm atmosphere which all helped to make the evening very memorable.
International Volunteer Day (IVD) is celebrated each year on 5 December and was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985. IVD provides volunteer organisations and individual volunteers with the opportunity to raise the public awareness of their contributions to economic and social development at local, national and international levels.
