VECTOR AWARENESS WINNERS RECEIVE AWARDS

A number of children, representing Preschools, Primary Schools and the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, who won separate competitions, as part of Vector Awareness Month, have been presented with their awards.

The presentations were made on Thursday, October 29, at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium, climaxing a series of activities in observance of Vector Awareness Month (October).

In the Preschool Jingle Competition, the winners were: St. Mary’s Preschool (1st place); The Outreach Preschool (2nd place); and Central Christian School (3rd place).

The winners of the Primary School Poster and Theme Competition were: Aaron Campbell (1st place); Jo’Ardie Richardson (2nd place); and Zerix Hodge (3rd place).
In the ALHCS Campus A Inter-House Spelling B Competition, the winners were: Orange House (1st place); Yellow House (2nd place); and Pink House (3rd place). The best speller was Ivory Crump.

The last award – for the Best Kept Cemetery Competition – was won by the Immanuel Methodist Church at West End.

The presentation ceremony was chaired by Mr. Vincent Carty, Principal Environmental Officer; the platinum sponsor’s remarks, on behalf of the Caribbean Commercial Bank, were delivered by Senior Officer, Ms. Natalia Lake; the closing remarks were by Mrs Maeza Demis-Adams, Health Planner in the Department of Health Protection; and the Vote of Thanks was by Mr. Alex Fleming, Senior Vector Control Officer.
