THE VALLEY, ANGUILLA – Sixteen (16) members of the Mayoumba Folkloric Theatre travelled to St. Maarten over the weekend to participate in a cultural extravaganza hosted by Good News Baptist Church, St. Peters.
Pastor Roderick Webster says the Church hosts an annual cultural extravaganza to show the diversity of worshipers at the church. Pastor Webster said that this was the first time his home country of Anguilla participated in this event and had been the main artists for the show.
The captivating performance by the group energized the large appreciative audience and featured 18 songs such as “Anguilla’, “Mabel Darling”, “John Belly”, “Rocky Road”, “Tim Bam”, “Bunton” and the finale song “Home sweet Home”. The melodious combination of guitars, drums, guira and traditional bath pan bass created a days past atmosphere that reignited memories and the joy of simpler times among the audience.
Some of the other countries participating in the show were St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Colombia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Dominica and Jamaica.
The members of the Mayoumba Folkloric Theatre would like to thank Pastor Webster, his wife Dora and the members of their congregation for their invitation, warm welcome, and hospitality shown during their short visit.
