The additional professional is Dr. Kidane H Assefa, M.D. He is a Fellowship trained Retinal specialist (Eye specialist) in prevention and treatment of Diabetic, Glaucoma, hypertension, cataract and different eye diseases, using advance laser or surgical technology.
Dr. Assefa graduated from the University of Central Florida with a double major in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. In 1988, he graduated with a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from SUNY HSCB( Down State Medical School) in New York. In 1999, he completed a one year of internship in medicine at the Albert Einstein school of medicine in the Bronx, NY and went on to complete three years of Special training in Ophthalmology residency and one year of Chief Residency at the New York Medical College in New York. Dr. Assefa continued for an additional two year fellowship in the surgical and medical treatment of retinal disease mainly from diabetes, hypertension and trauma at the Vitreo-retinal Foundation in Memphis, TN.
After graduation in 2004, Dr. Assefa was recruited and hired by Roy Lester Schneider Hospital in St. Thomas. Dr. Assefa has been in Private practice since 2004 with offices in St. Thomas, St. Croix, Tortola and now, as of December 19th, 2015, in Anguilla at the Hughes Medical Center.
Dr. Assefa, believes that the least expensive and the best treatment is through routine preventative check ups.
