The Anguilla Bodybuilding Team has claimed top positions at the Wesley Barrow Antigua & Barbuda Bodybuilding Invitational held on Saturday, 14th November.
Mr Anguilla Bodybuilder Mr Geshuane Clarke won the 180 lbs and under-category.
Anguilla’s Mr Physique Tall Class, Mr Macwhirr Lewis, claimed the number one position in the Physique Category and Ms Figure Anguilla Roxanne Pinnock came in second in the Bikini Category.
Mr Michael Connor from Anguilla also competed in the Bodybuilding Invitational Meet.
Coach and Vice President of the Anguilla Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Verdine Connor, who traveled with the team expressed congratulations on the athletes’ victory: “This is a great moment for bodybuilding in Anguilla. Although the sport has been around for several years, there hasn’t been much publicity about it and, as a member of the new Executive Board, we hope to promote bodybuilding within the community.”
“I’m very pleased with the performance of our bodybuilders. They were committed and disciplined and they have reaped the rewards. We are extremely proud,” Connor said.
Parliamentary Secretary for Sports and Tourism Mr Cardigan Connor also commended the athletes.
“I’m very proud of our bodybuilders that took part in the competition. And in recent times even though we are a small nation, we take pride in how we look and bodybuilding is on the up. I think having young athletes who take pride in their bodies and put the work in – the results are there to prove it. For Anguilla to compete against some of the bigger countries, and end up as winners, says a lot about our small island and the achievement of our young people within the sport,” Connor exclaimed.
Fitness Instructor and owner of La Severine Fitness Center in Anguilla, Joseph Pradel was an IFBB judge at the competition.
The Anguilla Bodybuilding Fitness Federation has extended thanks to the Sports Department and Mr Maurice Sinclair of Calypso Charters for their support of and assistance to the athletes.
