As part of their on-going professional development initiatives, Senior Education Officials participated in a one-day team-building session on 13 November at La Vue. The training, which was conducted by Director of Hospitality Studies at the Anguilla Community College, Ms. Sharon Richardson and Manager for the UWI Open Campus British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks, was geared towards enhancing the leadership skills of the team.
Participating in the lively and interactive session were the Permanent Secretary with responsibility for Education, Mrs. Chanelle Petty Barrett, Education Services Planner, Mrs. Dawn Reid, Chief Education Officer, Mrs. Rhonda Connor, Education Officer Assessment, Ms. Colleen Horsford, Education Officer Pre/Primary, Mrs. Susan Smith, Education Officer Curriculum, Miss Sandra Fahie, Education Officer Multi-Professional Support Services, Mrs. Jacqueline Jeffrey-Connor, Curriculum Officer Science, Mr. Winston Duncan, Curriculum Officer ICT, Mrs. Tamara Pradel, Literacy Champion, Mrs. Vanessa John-Hobson, Careers Coordinator, Mrs. Anita Ruan, TVET Coordinator, Mrs. Janis McKeag, Assessment Officer, Miss Deavene Guishard and Principal at the ALHCS, Mrs. Joyce Webster-Stewart.
According to Permanent Secretary Petty-Barrett, the retreat provided an opportunity for self-reflection, which is an important element for the growth of any organisation. “We are grateful to our facilitators for reinforcing the importance of a shared vision and a collaborative approach to achieving our goals as a Ministry. We recognise that our combined efforts result in better outcomes for those we serve and we pledge to make a conscious effort to demonstrate that we value the contribution of each person.”
The ACC/UWI Open Campus collaboration is part of their community and stakeholder partnership and outreach activities.
