The Department of Education, on Thursday November 19, 2015 held its 9th Annual Primary School National Awards Ceremony under the theme “Leaving Trails of Success to Light the Way.” The ceremony was sponsored by The Anguilla Electricity Company, ANGLEC. ANGLEC has been sponsoring this event since its commencement in 2007.
The number of students awarded at this ceremony was 51 compared to 56, which decreased by 5 awardees from the previous year. ANGLEC’s commitment to sponsoring this event shows that the company is being a good cooperate citizen, as well as a friend of education and youth. This is seen through its sponsorship as the numbers of awardees fluctuate from year to year.
Students were awarded for outstanding performances in Language, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies at Test of Standards, Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA), Music and Sports.
The presentation of the Patricia J. Adams Literary Award, now in
its seventh year, was made to one student each from Grades 3, 5
and 6 who excelled in Composition writing. The recipients were
Grade 3 – Sage Connor- Adrian T. Hazell Primary School
Grade 5 – Rhonica Connor- Omololu International School
Grade 6- Nandi Edwards- Omololu International School
Additionally, the ANGLEC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD, was given to the top three students overall from Grades 3, 5 and 6. The recipients were
Grade 3 – Mya Lake- Omololu International School
Grade 5 – Rhonica Connor- Omololu International School
Grade 6- Nandi Edwards- Omololu International School
