The Ministry of Health and Social Development, in collaboration with the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), held a Chronic Non-Communicable Disease Commission consultation on Tuesday September 22nd at the Anguilla Community College. The objective of the consultation was to finalize a national plan of action for Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (CNCDs). CNCDs including heart disease, cancers, stroke, hypertension and diabetes, are the major health burden in Anguilla. They are a serious threat to Anguilla’s development through lost productivity and spiraling health care costs.
This commission is multi-sectoral and aims to aims to advise on, facilitate and promote evidence-based practices in the prevention and control of CNCDS, building on previous efforts to address CNCDS on the island.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development remains committed to this effort and believes that with collaboration we will begin to see a reduction in the extremely negative impact of CNCDs in Anguilla.
