Director of Youth and Culture, Bren Romney, stated, “We did a full review of the PSHE programme and what we recognized is that the programme is a pretty well put together programme. However, the challenges come in the delivery of the programme”. Mr. Romney also commented on the creation of the database of persons. “The Hon. Deputy Governor, Stanley Reid, created the first version of the list which was then submitted to the Department of Youth”. Additional names were also added to the database by Ministry of Health and Social Development along through Mrs. Hyacinth Bradley as well as PAVE.
PAVE comprises a group of stakeholders persons from both the private and public sector. Mrs. Bradley noted, “We are looking at PAVE and supporting their initiatives from a holistic perspective. In addition to the resources that were presented this morning, from the Ministry’s standpoint we have put forward a proposal to continue with additional support”.
Head of the Counseling Unit, Dr. Samuel Daniel, thanked PAVE and all stakeholders involved in the contribution to the Unit. He commented, “In these times of monies being so scarce we must applaud the collaborative efforts of PAVE, Ministry of Social Development, Hon. Deputy Governor and the Department of Youth and Culture, in securing these equipment for us”. Dr. Daniel assured the gathering that the equipment will go a long way in enhancing the delivery and effectiveness of the unit’s programmes.
Principal Joyce Stewart added, “I want to say thank you as well on behalf of the school. I think it’sgoing to be uplifting not only to the students but to the ones presenting as well. It adds to their passion and now that we have these resources to fall back on”.
