In reply to <a href="https://theanguillian.com/2015/09/editorial-beneficiaries-of-anguilla-must-help-us/#comment-87787">Bob Clark</a>.

I disagree, yet I respect the opinion of those who do not understand that when companies come into a community abroad, they have a "Community Benefits Plan", detailing how they would support the community where they are profiting from doing lucrative business. I see no reason why companies that do business in Anguilla should not have a plan to give back to the island of Anguilla. It is not a question of being "owed" anything, it is the right thing to do "to whom so much is given, so very much is required". A big thank you to all of those who have shared gifts great and small to the island of Anguilla.

And furthermore. How arrogant is it to say that "beneficiaries" MUST help us. These people take risk. Do you know how much money was lost on Viceroy and Temenos? Hundreds of millions.

Once again I hear whining. Why do so many people in Anguilla, unlike other similar countries feel like the world always owes them something. Grow up. Nobody owes you anything. 50 years ago, Anguilla was a sandbar. Now, because of those around you...mainly the United States, land goes for millions and Anguilla is a fairly modern country. Money has been hoarded by those fortunate enough to have inherited beachfront property as if they are special. Give me a break. The wind always blows...where is your initiative on wind powered energy. The sun always shines...how many solar panels exist. In fact they were illegal until a short time ago. Stop whining. Appreciate that you live on a piece of real estate that everyone desires. No one owes you anything. Appreciate the bound of your Island. You could be Syria, Iraq, Nigeria. Make something of your life and stop asking for hand outs. It's pathetic.
