As Anguilla gears up to launch its own Youth Parliament in October, its trainees were welcomed by the Sint Maarten Youth Parliament to witness the opening of their Youth Parliament Year 2015-2016.
Anguilla’s delegation consisted of Programme Officer-Youth of the Department of Youth and Culture, Ms. Joleyne Robin, and nine Youth Parliamentarians: Ojeda Vanterpool, Hackeem Alves, Malik Richard, Regine Niles, Marejah Smith, Kemoly Murphy, Anthea Roach, Glenniva Hodge and Diaz Mussington. The delegation left Anguilla on Friday 4th August to attend the ceremony at the Hall of Parliament, Phillipsburg, St. Maarten, the same day.
The Hon. Lloyd J. Richardson, MD, of the Sint Maarten Parliament, gave brief remarks to the new Youth Members of Parliament. He commended them for their bravery and wished them well.
Anguilla’s Programme Officer-Youth, Ms. Joleyne Robin, also commended the Sint Maarten Youth Parliamentarians for an exceptional ceremony. She expressed her gratitude to them – for allowing the Anguillian Youth Parliamentarians an opportunity to witness the event – saying: “Thank you, Sint Maarten, for extending an invitation to us to witness the opening ceremony of the Youth Parliament”.
