The Anguilla Government and its agents have contributed one hundred thousand US dollars to storm-ravished Dominica. This was disclosed on Wednesday this week to the media by Chief Minister and Minister of Finance in Anguilla, Mr. Victor Banks.

He said it was agreed by the OECS Authority that its member territories should each undertake to contribute similar sums for relief funding to Dominica which was severely pounded by Tropical Storm Erika on August 28, leaving a trail of death and devastation, mainly by floods in its wake.

According to Dominica’s Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, the island state needs up to fifteen million US dollars for its immediate recovery efforts.

Meanwhile, Mr. Banks, Anguilla’s Chief Minister, left the island on Wednesday for meetings in St. Kitts with regional leaders, officials of the IMF, the ECCB, Caribbean Development Bank and the World Bank. The discussions were in relation to the banking situation in Anguilla and the plight of Dominica caused by Tropical Storm Erika.

The meetings were funded by the World Bank.
