The former Senior Minister at the Central Baptist Church at Rey Hill, Anguilla, the Reverend Dr. Cecil Richardson, is pursuing a new service in the religious field.
The well-admired and respected minister in church, state and community, told The Anguillian about his future plans: “I am not going to be pastoring, but I will be doing something like missionary/ evangelistic work wherever in the Caribbean,” he said. “I will be going wherever I am invited, and wherever the churches need help. I will be spending a couple of weeks, assisting wherever I can, then coming home to refresh and to go again; so I will be in ministry, but not pastoring.”
Pastor Cecil was at the time explaining to the newspaper a statement – made at the Central Baptist Church on Sunday, August 9, at the Installation Service for the new Senior Pastor, Dwayne Adams – that he was “moving on”.
Pastor Cecil has over thirty-nine years in active ministry in Anguilla: nine years at what was then the Island Harbour Baptist Church; and thirty years at the Central Baptist Church where the current Central Christian School was also established. “We came here when there was nothing on this property, and God has been gracious to us,” he reflected.
In addition to his church ministry, Pastor Cecil has held various other responsibilities. “I have been Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Christian School and that will now be passed on to Pastor Adams,” he said, with much humility. “I served six years on the Board of Governors of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School. I served for about four years with the Public Service Commission. I am presently serving as an Assessor for the Juvenile Court….I also serve as a member of the Arijah Childrens’ Foundation Board, but I will be just stepping back a little bit [to do my new missionary/evangelistic work].”
The Anguillian joins in offering its best wishes and Godspeed to this illustrious son of Anguilla.
