In preparation for the reopening of school, a two-week band camp, particularly for students at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, is now in progress.

The camp is under the direction of Music Teacher, Mr. Lennox Vanterpool, who spoke to The Anguillian on Tuesday this week, August 18. “We are exploring new music and some older music as well,” he explained. “We are trying to get a head start on the music activities for the first term of the school, instead of waiting until too late like graduations and other activities. It is a wide range of participants and, when you make music together, you also make peace together.”

Asked how he would describe the participatory interest of the participants in the camp, Mr. Vanterpool replied: “On a scale of one to ten, the interest of these young people would be eleven.”
The various instruments being played in the concert band include the flute, clarinet, saxophone, percussion, brass drum, trumpet and trombone.
