ECCB Launches Financial Information Month

Media representatives and other persons in the ECCB member territories, including Anguilla, came together via video conference on August 13th in an effort to jump start the 2015 Financial Information Month (FIM), in October, with the launch of a theme, song and video; The launch took place at the Bank’s representative office in Anguilla and the other islands as well as is Headquarters in St. Kitts.

The theme for FIM 2015 is Learn Empower Achieve Develop, LEAD. Mrs. Petipha Lewis-Smith, Executive Director, Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce, presented on what it is to ‘Learn’. She noted we learn “to facilitate and shape our experiences in our journey of life”. Ms Sybil L. Welsh, advisor within the Corporate Relations Department of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, presented on ‘Empower’. Ms Dawn French, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, St. Lucia, made the presentation on ‘Achieve’. While, Ms Cheverlyn Williams, Director, Strategy Management and Administration within the Ministry of Communication, Works and Labour, Montserrat, presented on ‘Develop’.

The theme song ‘Time to Lead’ was written and composed by Oronde ‘Bomani’ Charles Singer/Songwriter, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

FIM incorporates a series of initiatives designed to support the attainment of the foal of a financially developed and vibrant ECCU region that fosters strong and sustainable economic growth and improved well-being of citizenry. Some of the regional initiatives include: the OECS Business Solution Think Tank and Hackathon, 13-15th August; ECCU Train the Trainers Workshop For Teachers, 22nd September; Presentations to Schools, Community Groups and the Public on Financial, Economic and Business Issues October-November; ECCU Business Symposium and Innovation Forum, 8th October; ECCU Train the Trainers Workshop For Financial Practitioners, 20th October; and ECCU LEAD Conference 19th November.

Following the launch of the Financial Information Month theme, song and video, The OECS Business Solution Think Tank & Hackathon commenced.
