Anguilla’s Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Amanda Stewart, has extended condolences to the Police Force of St. Maarten, KPSM, as well as the family and friends of slain Police Officer, Gamali Benjamin.
The Anguilla Commissioner’s message was sent in an email on August 10 to the Chief Commissioner of Police, Mr. Peter DeWit. She stated as follows:

“I heard the dreadful news over the weekend of the death of Officer Gamali Benjamin. I wish to offer deepest condolences from the Royal Anguilla Police Force and from myself personally at this very sad time. I know the effect that the death of an officer in the line of duty can have on the Force and on family, friends and supporters and I offer my total support to you and your officers. If there is anything that I can do, please do not hesitate to contact me. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.”

According to information from St. Maarten, the Police Officer was shot several times, including in his head, while reportedly responding to a robbery on Front Street on Wednesday, August 4. He was attacked by the robbers while attempting to arrest them.
