LIME is proving once again to be a good corporate citizen by sponsoring various shows and events for the upcoming Anguilla Summer Festival. In a handing over ceremony, held on Tuesday 7 July at the Telecoms House in The Valley, LIME pledged support for about 15 events/organizations represented at the ceremony. According to the Commercial Manager, Jade Reymond: “We are extremely excited about this year’s Summer Festival. We want to ensure the events not only come off, but are successful. I think it is going to be a record-breaking one for us.”
The repeat recipients were: the Summer Festival Committee; LIME Socca Monarch Competition; Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch Competition; August Thursday Boat Race; Parade of Troupes (where they will sponsor two floats and the lighting of the Strip to as far as Carnival Village); the UFO racing boat; the new Miss LIME ( Miss Toniqwa Ruan); the reigning Miss Anguilla (Sherina Richardson); and three musical bands (Pantha Vibes International, Infusion and X-Rated).
LIME’s sponsorship has been extended to some new partners/events: Miss Tiny Tot 2015; Jouvert in July (a totally new show and one that will be done in one spot – LA Village); Eyes Wide Shut Daybreak Fete (another new show that will take place at LA Village); and the Machel Montano Show. According to the events’ managers, the new shows are taking into consideration that part of the community that might not be interested in the pageantry and calypso shows – and would feel left out.
In keeping with its theme ‘100 Days of Summer’, LIME commented that the sponsorship of the summer festivities, “gives us the opportunity to not only invest in the development of our culture, but also the celebration of our people through various ways – in music, pageantry, boat-racing and the like.”
