It is the third consecutive year that Cuisinart Golf Resort and Spa has been assisting its large number of employees to remain healthy and they, too, have also taken a personal interest in that initiative.
The assistance is provided through an annual health fair – a partnership involving the resort, the Health Authority of Anguilla and NAGICO Insurance.
The third floor of the resort’s imposing and beautiful penthouse, where the Third Annual Health Fair was held on Thursday, July 16, was the scene of much activity for the event which had as its theme: “The greatest wealth is health”. The various rooms were used for a wide spectrum of health examinations throughout the day.
There were dental, breast and foot care examinations; body mass index, HIV, cholesterol and prostate examinations; and sugar and blood pressure examinations. There was also a variety of other services and consultations relating to general health promotion and sexual health education.
CuisinArt Resort’s Director of Human Resources, Ms Carleen Gumbs, commented that the health fair was aimed at stressing the importance of health, and making employees more aware of the various diseases to be guarded against. “We are making sure that we are in tune with what is happening in health, and keeping our staff equipped and knowledgeable in that regard,” she said.
Ms. Gumbs disclosed that over the coming months there will be a special health education session during which persons from the Health Authority will be in attendance. During that sit down event, the hotel employees will be addressed on dieting and various other health issues.
