The three Seventh-day Adventist Churches, along with the New Life Company and the Spanish Group, have been energised in the work of the ministry having just had a double event which inspired and motivated their members.
On Saturday, May 30, the SDA community met at the Rodney Rey Auditorium at Camps B of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School for a Lay Rally, the first in recent times. It was held in cooperation with the Anguilla District and the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (NCC) with regional headquarters in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
The introductory portion of the event was conducted by the Anguilla District Minister, Pastor Trent Berg, who had been doing the preparatory groundwork along with members of the organising committees.
The rally sessions, which followed, were led by Dr. Henry Peters who pastored in Anguilla several years ago and is now the Personal Ministries Director at the NCC. During a period of some three and a half hours, the congregations from each church, wearing t-shirts proclaiming their particular objectives, processed to the platform where they delivered presentations covering their missionary work over the past two years.
A number of church members were presented with awards for their individual contributions to the work of the SDA ministry in Anguilla and its positive impact on the functioning of the NCC.
Following the presentations Dr. Henry Peters delivered a special message in which he commended the church members for their commitment. He cautioned them about some of the challenges facing Anguilla and how the SDA church, and other churches, need to respond to those challenges to promote a better Christian Anguillian society.
In the afternoon, as part of the Lay Rally, the combined churches staged an impressive March of Witness from the Mega Savers Supermarket in The Farrington down to The Valley through the Rey Hill main road. The march terminated at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium for the Vesper Service.
