Scotia Bank is positively engaging in the development of the youth of Anguilla by once again sponsoring the ‘Anguilla Talented Teen Pageant’ which will be held on August 4 this year as part of the August Week festivities. At a presentation held at Scotia Bank in The Valley, on Tuesday 23 June, the Bank’s General Manager, Ms Pamela Herbert-Daniel, gave cheques to the five contestants – who will be vying for the title of Miss Talented Teen – in the presence of the their chaperons, Committee members and bank staff. The fifth contestant will receive her cheque on her return to the island. The contributions will help with the overall production of the show.
The Contestants are Hermeena Tulsie, Samisha Connor, Errissa Gumbs, Nekeila Davis (missing from photo) and Jovoncia Proctor.
The ‘Talented Teen’ Competition, which is open to young ladies between the ages of 13 to 18, showcases some of the gifts and talents of the youth involved. It also provides them with an opportunity for development personally, socially and otherwise – as the Committee organizes sessions for business etiquette, speech improvements, question and answer and other social activities. Ms. Herbert-Daniel said: “An important component in this pageant is the enhancement of your confidence and character. As contestants, we encourage you to embrace the positive attributes which will mold you into one day becoming successful young adults.”
Mr Romeo Kelsick, speaking on behalf of the Committee, said: “Having Scotia Bank is a big help. It helps us to provide the general public with a very good pageant and we are happy to have them, and we hope they will continue to be part of this pageant for years to come.”
