UWI Open Campus Anguilla is continuing its educational awareness building initiatives. Site Representative Mrs. Sharon Lake and Manager of the UWI British Overseas Territories Sites, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks recently met with ANGLEC Managerial staff to discuss the Online and On Site programmes that are being offered for the Summer and the 2015/2016 academic year. The University Officials also held an information sharing session with the Staff of the Social Development Department.

During the highly interactive sessions, the ANGLEC and Social Development Teams were provided with information on a number of Certificate, Diploma, Graduate and Post Graduate Degree programmes. Of key interest were the affordable and flexible pathways to personal and professional development provided by the University. The UWI Reps pointed out that the University’s programmes are economical and convenient and were designed to meet applicants where they are. UWI Open Campus provides the unique opportunity for individuals to obtain an accredited world-class education at a fraction of the external costs, while continuing to meet their employment, family and other commitments, the Officials pointed out. Individuals can proceed at their own pace by enrolling as fulltime, part-time, or “specially admitted students”. “Specially Admitted Students” can sign up for one or more courses without committing to a full programme.

The staff of the two institutions also heard about the University’s Prior Learning Assessment Programme which allows persons to translate their on-the-job experience into University credits, which can be used towards a certificate or degree programme, or to improve themselves within their current employment. The UWI Reps also fielded questions on the registration process, scholarships and the support provided by the local Site.

UWI Open Campus Anguilla is expressing appreciation to ANGLEC Management, including Manager, David Gumbs and Human Resources Manager, Miss Erimel Franklin, as well as Commissioner of Social Development, Mr. Sanford Richardson for allowing them the opportunity share the University’s programmes with their teams.

The UWI Open Campus is currently accepting applications for the 2014/2015 Summer Professional Development Series, as well as the 2015/2016 academic year. The awareness building sessions are slated to continue with other public and private organisations, including the Department of Probations and the Labour Department. Persons or companies interested in the special information sharing sessions are encouraged to contact the UWI Open Campus Anguilla Site at anguilla@open.uwi.edu or telephone 497-8156.

The local team is also inviting interested persons to visit the website (http://www.open.uwi.edu/prospective/welcome) or the local Site office for additional assistance as they seek to take advantage of the opportunity to continue their professional and academic development through the Online and face to face programmes.
