Commissioner of Police, Mr. Rudolph Proctor, assured the Ministry of Education that the Royal Anguilla Police Force, will continue to partner with them in presenting the DARE program.
The DARE program which focuses on teaching young people how to make choices that are Responsible, Respectful and Realistic was started in Anguilla in 2007 in all Primary Schools throughout the island and a year later in the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, Campus B.
The Commissioner made the remark whilst delivering the keynote address at the 7th Annual DARE graduation at the ALHCS Campus B on Wednesday 27th May, 2015.
“I would like to also take this opportunity to assure the Education Department that the RAPF will continue to partner with you in presenting this very valuable program in all the schools throughout Anguilla”, said Commissioner Proctor. “We cannot underestimate the far-reaching effects of this program and the impact it can have on our way of life as we continue to exist and co-exist in this very tiny island paradise”.
“I must also at this juncture express the RAPF’s thanks and appreciation to the Department of Education for realizing the importance of this program and for allowing it to be a part of the curriculum of the schools in Anguilla”, he continued. “No doubt the effectiveness of the program over the years has proven the decision to include it in the schools’ curriculum as a very judicious one”.
Commissioner Proctor added: “I would like to put on record at this time my thanks and appreciation to Officers Shawn Lake and Augustina Carbon for their unwavering commitment to the program which they have both exhibited since becoming involved with it”, said Commissioner Proctor. “As a result of their commitment they have over the years ensured that every student from Primary to Secondary school is exposed to the program in its entirety. For this I applaud you both”.
