Around 1:10 pm today Friday 22nd May, 2015 police were dispatched to report of a 74 year old visitor who apparently drowned in the waters off Shoal Bay Beach.
It was reported to the police that the swimmer that was initially out swimming in the water encountered difficulty while doing so.
He was assisted by another beach goer who brought him out of the water to the beach. Thereafter the ambulance and police were summoned. The swimmer was later pronounced dead at the scene by a Medical Doctor.
An investigation into this incident has commenced and no further information regarding the deceased will be given until the next of kin has been notified.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force will like to commend all persons who provided assistance during this incident.
