Runway Anguilla has done it again. On Friday 15 May the Special Needs Department of the ALHCS was the grateful recipient of two laptops from Runway Anguilla. Runway Anguilla is a non-profit charity that holds an annual fashion show to raise funds to support vulnerable persons in the educational and medical fields. It has lived up to its promise to support education for those in need.
Runway representatives, Claire Hage and Janine Edwards, assured the students that they were very valuable as they were the first recipients of the funds raised this year by Runway Anguilla. They shared with the students the fact that they had a lot of people cheering for them as a fashion show involved months and months of planning, time and effort by organizers, designers, sponsors big and small, volunteers like DJs, models, and many others. According to Janine: “Maybe 100 people were involved in our efforts. And although our show is fabulous, moments like these are what make it meaningful for us. We’ve done it for you.”
Mrs Jacqueline Jeffrey-Connor, from the Education Department acknowledged the contribution of the two laptops and assured Runway Anguilla that its “worthy contribution will definitely add value to what happens in our classrooms. It is hoped that these laptops will be instrumental in capturing the minds of our young learners in this technological world. It is therefore the responsibility of the teachers receiving this contribution to maximize their use to ensure learning is taking place in a fun, stimulating and interactive way.”
Mrs Katherine Webster Brown, Head of the Special Needs Department, declared it an awesome moment. She said: “This affords us the opportunity to make technology accessible in our special classrooms at Campus A. These few pounds of electronics will be the private jets to the students that will take them to new heights of knowledge, potential and ultimately success in all they do.” She charged the students to use every passing moment to prepare themselves to become intellectually independent and to remain focused and strive for solid accomplishment.
