Now in its fifth year, the Runway Anguilla Fashion show is definitely one of the premiere charity events of the year. It drew a vibrant crowd of locals, expats and tourists alike, to the Coba Restaurant at the prestigious Viceroy Resort on Sunday 19th April.

With the funds raised to be donated to medical support for the elderly and educational support for Youth, the audience was happy to be entertained at the event knowing that their contribution was for a good cause. They were overwhelmed with the display of beautiful clothes, beach wear and formal wear, from the participating Irie Life, ZaZaa, STRATA (at Viceroy) and Bridal Affairs boutiques. Spectacular creations by local designers Honey Butter and Cream, and TheoChris wowed the crowd as the models, great and small, male and female, seasoned and amateur, strutted among the crowds with great pizzazz.

The fashion show, under the theme ‘Fire’ certainly heated up as the evening progressed with the advent of intense colour and choreography. When things got so ‘hot’, the male models came dressed as firemen with hose to cool things done, and when some in the crowd became undone with too much excitement. The crowd was interactive with the models contributing to a fun evening that would not be easily forgotten by those who stayed until the fiery ‘grand finale’.

Among many spectacular and special creations there is always something that makes one stop and wonder. One of those special creations for this fashion show was a hot, hot outfit designed by Keria Hughes. What made it special was the fact that it was entirely made of recycled material – panty hose, garden gloves and crime scene police tape. It certainly had the wow factor.

Founder of Runway Anguilla, Claire Hage, and her team of self expressed, ‘dynamic women’, can be proud of producing another successful annual fashion show, thanks to the big sponsors such as Viceroy, LIME, and Cape Air and many others who participated in the silent auction and table sponsored donations.

Can it get any better? You will have it check it out next year to compare.
