The RAPF today received three more vehicles which have been provided using funds made available from the UK Capital Development Fund.
The addition of the new 2105 Ford Escapes jeeps brings the total number of vehicles received by the RAPF to date to seven.
In handing over the vehicles to Commissioner of Police, Rudolph Proctor HE the Governor Christina Scott said, “I am delighted that the UK capital fund has been able to provide a total of eight new police vehicles for the RAPF. Safe and reliable equipment is an essential part of a modern and effective police force.”
In receiving the keys for the vehicles COP Proctor replied, “The RAPF is again very grateful to the HE The Governor and her office for facilitating the acquisition process by ensuring funds were made available to purchase the vehicles. We are also grateful to the other key players who were part of the process in ensuring the vehicles were delivered to us”.
“Mention must be made, of Mr. Foster Rogers, PS in the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Bancroft Battick and staff at the Ministry of Infrastructure for their invaluable assistance rendered in the acquisition process. With General Elections less than a week away these vehicles will greatly assist with more effective and efficient policing of the island and the Elections,” the COP indicated.
The final vehicle is due on island shortly.
