Members of the Royal Anguilla Police Force, Drugs and Firearms Task Force on Monday 30th March, 2015 arrested a 30 yr. old male of the Farrington for possession and cultivation of cannabis.
The ninety-six (96) plants which consisted of fully mature and young plants were discovered by the police whilst executing a warrant on the premises of the alleged offender at about 3:30pm.
The offender and the drugs were transported to Valley Police Station where he was later charged with the offences of possession and cultivation of cannabis.
The defendant appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on today’s date Tuesday 31st March, 2015 and was granted bail in the sum of EC $25,000.00 with one surety to return to court on the 12th May, 2015 to answer to his charges. He is to report to the Valley Police Station every Friday between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm as a condition of his bail.
This seizure brings to five (5) the number of cultivation site discovered by the police for the year with a total of four hundred and seventy-four (474) plants being destroyed. Of those five sites the police have arrested and charged three persons for three of those sites.
Monday’s seizure weighed in at 15,146 grams with an estimated street value of EC $40,000.00.
