Decision 2015 is the programme title of a special service and presentation which Anguilla Television (ATV) will be telecasting on Election Night, Wednesday, April 22, for local and overseas viewers. This comes in the wake of several requests particularly from Anguillians living overseas, not only to hear the election results but to see them as well.
ATV’s owner and producer, Mr. Wycliffe Richardson, will be anchoring the interactive programme. The sourcing of the programme will include footage taken during the day at the various polling stations, interviews, commentaries and analyses by an ATV panel, and information from the Government’s website, supplied by the IT Unit.
Mr. Richardson, a noted former radio broadcaster, now telecaster, has used his expertise and skill to develop and establish ATV which is fast becoming a household name in Anguilla. He has now further equipped his television station, at significant cost, not only to generally improve the delivery of service, but especially so for the coming coverage of the general election.
Unlike the radio stations, which will be broadcasting the tedious counting of the ballots, ATV, through its live streaming and computer facilities, will be placing the photograph of each candidate on the television screen, while updating the voting numbers. Further, ATV will be analysing the progress of the voting, and the number of votes cast for each candidate in the respective constituencies. The television station will also be making projections of winners during the course of the counting. Though challenging, the programme of the election coverage in Anguilla is hoping to be informative and instructive.
Mr. Richardson has not only spent a tidy amount of money on updating his television equipment. He has also been been able to secure the assistance of some friends – to provide ATV with increased live streaming facilities for viewers outside Anguilla in particular.
He is thankful to LIME Anguilla, in particular, for its assistance. The telecommunication company is providing upgrade and installation of fibre optic cable to ensure dedicated internet access, resulting in a more reliable and high efficient quality product, thus giving ATV more capacity to reach viewers.
Under a separate arrangement, Caribbean Cable Communications will ensure the quality service of the telecasts.
ATV has established a website – www.anguilla tv.net – with information about the election and other relevant and general information. This has been in use for some time now.
Mr. Richardson is to be commended for his insight and continued development of ATV for the people of Anguilla at home and abroad.
ATV has been in operation for just over five years, and is currently housed in the Grace Complex Building in The Valley.
