The Anguilla House of Assembly was the scene of much activity on Thursday, April 9, as nineteen candidates contesting the general election, accompanied by the persons nominating them and witnesses, filed into the building on Nomination Day.
The law provided for the candidates and their above agents to turn up for the nomination process between the hours of 10.00 am and 1.00 pm; and 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm.
The candidates nominated are as follows:
District 1: Othlyn Vanterpool, Anguilla United Front (AUF); Dr. Ellis Lorenzo Webster, Anguilla United Movement (AUM); Palmavon Webster (Independent).
District 2: Jerome Roberts (AUM); Cora Richardson-Hodge (AUF).
District 3: Evans McNiel Rogers (AUF); Sutcliffe Hodge (DOVE); and Elkin Richardson (AUM).
District 4: Evan Gumbs (AUM); Victor F. Banks (AUF) and George Leonard Kentish (DOVE).
District 5: Evalie Bradley (AUF) and Patrick Hanley (AUM).
District 6: Curtis Richardson (AUF); Haydn Hughes (AUM); H. Clifton Niles (DOVE); and Statchel Warner (Independent).
District 7: Cardigan Connor (AUF) and Kristy Richardson-Harrigan (AUM).
The nominations were received by the Returning Officers in each Electoral District. In order of the districts, these officers are: Rodney Rey, Bernard Wattley, Laureen Bryan, Melissa Meade, Sinclair Buchanan, Gifford Connor and Gracita Christopher.
The Supervisor of Elections is Aurjul Wilson, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
