Valley Primary School emerged winner of the Inter-Primary Schools Sports Day events on Thursday, March 26, at the Ronald Webster Park, for the fifth consecutive year.
The scene was a riot of colour as teams and cheer leaders from the six public schools, and the two private schools – Central Christian School and Omolulu International Institute – paraded and performed on the grounds of the park.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Chanelle Petty Barrett, declared open the Sports Day activities. “This Sports Day is an opportunity for all students to showcase their ability and to be recognised for their outstanding talent,” she observed. “She reminded parents, friends and well-wishers that all the participating students were Anguilla’s budding athletes and that there was a need to encourage them to perform well.
The Permanent Secretary hoped that one day some of the athletes would represent Anguilla at regional and international events. She expressed the Ministry’s gratitude to Tropical Shipping for sponsoring the Sports Day activities over the past twenty-two years.
