A row of recently-transplanted coconut palms has beautified a section of Island Harbour. The location is along the roadside west of St Andrew’s Anglican Church, and across from the Miniature Golf and Anguilla Sea Salt project.
The planting of the trees is part of a longstanding programme which Ms Pam Webster has been spearheading, but in which many other persons are also intimately involved in a community change effort.
It is understood that the programme seeks to build on Kenneth Harrigan’s vision for beautifying and enhancing District 1. The aim is for that district to take pride and pleasure in its environment, and set standards for the rest of Anguilla to emulate. Mr Harrigan has reportedly played a leading role in the latest planting of coconut trees.
Sometime ago the Community for Change Movement planted trees around the East End Pond; and the programme has been ongoing in District 1 for a long time. According to an inside source, it is therefore not connected with the election or its outcome.
