ASHLEY’S ROAD RELAY KEEPS LEGACY ALIVE, DELIGHTS CHILDREN

Children from the six public Primary Schools, and the privately-run Central Christian School, crowded the parking area at Ashley & Sons Supermarket – and the road parallel to the business place – on Sunday, March 8, for the annual Ashley’s Road Relay now in its 21st year.

The sponsorship of the event was an initiative of the late Mr Ashley Brooks. It is now being continued by his family as part of his legacy; and for the competing schoolchildren, it has become a great delight.

Mr Brooks’ daughter, Mrs Ellen Harrigan, spoke on behalf of the family. “This is one of the many ways we keep our father’s legacy alive,” she told the gathering. “We give thanks for his vision in contributing to the social development of our young people.”

A quantity of trophies for the winners of the road relay was on display during the sporting activities. The results were as follows:
