The programme commences in the second term of each year for the fourth form students of the ALHCS. Education and awareness sessions are conducted over a six-week period on nutrition, dietary management of chronic non-communicable diseases, infant and young child feeding practices, the importance of physical activity, STIs and HIV. This programme culminates in the Healthy Lifestyles Quiz Competition using the inter-house colour system.

This year the competition was keenly contested and the participants competed enthusiastically to win, resulting in the audience enjoying an educational fun-filled two and half hours. The results of the competition, organized by the teachers of the ALHCS and the staff of the Nutrition and Health Promotion Department, were as follows: First place winners were 4 students from Orange House who received $100 book voucher compliments of the Anguilla Cancer Society. Second place winners were students from Yellow House who received a fruit basket each from the Health Authority of Anguilla. Third place winners were from Purple House who received a free lunch from Lisa’s Restaurant in The Valley. Ms. T’arah Niles of Maroon House was the individual prize winner of a book voucher from Coral Reef Book store.

The Nutrition and Health Promotion Department, would like to take this opportunity to express heartfelt thanks to the various sponsors, students and other individuals who made this event a success.
