A timely reminder to be alert and proactive regarding the eventuality of armed robbery was given to 29 participants from 12 companies across Anguilla. For the second time the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce deemed it necessary to host the ‘Armed Robbery Awareness’ workshop, which was last hosted in 2013. This year, it was held on 17th March at the Teachers’ Resource Centre in The Valley.
It was ably facilitated by experienced trainer, Mr David McGregor of the TDC Charisma Training Institute in St Maarten. Mr McGregor comes from a background in policing and has offered security training to Chamber of Commerce groups and others over the years.
The interactive workshop covered such areas as risk reduction, survival, safety and protection of evidence. The aim was to make organizations aware of the impact an armed robbery can have on their business and on the health, safety and welfare of their staff, customers and themselves.
The participants were a mixed group, some having done some previous training, whereas for the others it was their first workshop as such. To all, it was useful and informative – and to others a timely reminder of good practice.
