On February 2nd 2015 Anguilla’s Leading Renewable Energy Company SwitchLogix in collaboration with the Anguilla Education Department launched the Energy Conservation Challenge in Anguilla’s Public & Private Primary Schools.
The initiative centers around the use of an E-Gauge device that monitors the electricity usage of the different schools. Students from the institutions compete against each other to monitor and reduce the electricity usage at their particular school.
Tahirah Banks with LIVE Communications, the PR Consultants for SwitchLogix, is excited about the initiative: “Today, Anguilla has many businesses that are taking a step into the future and investing in Renewable energy solutions. As a Nation, Renewable Energy is very valuable to us. Not only does it reduce the negative impacts to the environment and mitigate climate change but it also creates new job opportunities, therefore aiding in mobilizing the economic development of the island.
Our goal is to educate the Anguillian Population on the importance of renewable energy, and the feasibility of implementing simple energy saving techniques and technology in their homes and businesses.
We’ve brainstormed ways in which we could introduce the idea and science behind Renewable Energy in the Anguilla Education system. We wanted to go beyond the textbook, and, using our equipment, introduce practical classroom examples that would stimulate the minds of Anguilla’s next generation.”
This Project is the first of what the company hopes will be a productive year of innovation and education about the importance and benefits of renewable energy.
SwitchLogix is led by Thomas Hodge (BSc.Eng; MBA), a Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in Industrial and Commercial Systems. He specializes in Maintenance & Safety Engineering, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Systems.
