This year, the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, with responsibility for fielding and organizing the team, have invited creative and talented chefs and bartender to be part of the Team.

Executive Director of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, Mrs. Gilda Gumbs Samuel said that it was important that the face of the team reflected a diversified section of the membership, and therefore this year the team will feature members from both the Allied section and Accommodation sections of their membership base.

The team met officially on Monday February 6th, for over two hours for a session which highlighted their island practice rules and guidelines, set dates for their upcoming fundraisers, designated uniforms for the Taste of the Islands’ Event and outlined the rules of the competition. The team also emphasized the importance of their roles as ambassadors for Anguilla while abroad.

In addition to their regular sponsors who most have come on board for the 2015 season, the team welcomed Digicel, the newest sponsor of the Anguilla National Culinary Team.

Kerchelle Jn Charles, Head of Commercial for Digicel and Caribbean Cable Communication Anguilla, said “Tourism plays a significant role in Anguilla’s economy and the island’s participation in activities such as these helps to turn the spotlight on Anguilla’s positives and what the island has to offer visitors in an increasingly competitive global tourism industry. Team Digicel is very proud to be one of the sponsors of the Anguilla National Culinary team and we are very happy to do our part to give the team the best chance of coming out on top and bringing home the gold for Anguilla Jn Charles said.
