ANGUILLA, B.W.I. – February 3, 2015 – The Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB) kicked off its promotional calendar for 2015 with its participation in Caribbean Marketplace in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Held January 28-30, the three-day event was attended by Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism the Hon. Haydn Hughes, Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board, Mr. Ralph V.C. Hodge, Deputy Director of Tourism, Mrs. Chantelle M. Richardson, ATB Puerto Rico/LATAM representative, Ms. Raquel Echandi and Anguilla’s North America Marketing and Public Relations team, Cheryl Andrews Marketing Communications, represented by Jennifer Johnson and Tim Grace. In addition to Anguilla’s official delegation, local stakeholders also on hand, included CeBlue Villas and Beach Resort, Cap Juluca Hotel, CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa, Arawak Beach Inn and Viceroy Hotel Anguilla.

During the compact schedule, meetings were held with key tour operators and publications from the Caribbean, North America and Europe, that included US Airways Vacations, World Travel Holdings, Air Canada Vacations, Blue Media Group, Conde Nast Traveler, Classic Vacations, Expedia, Orbitz Worldwide and Luxury Link, amongst others. All expressed tremendous interest in promoting the destination to their various audiences. Members of the delegation were also on hand to provide the latest news and developments from the destination and to leverage partnerships for strengthening awareness of Anguilla – “Tranquility wrapped in Blue”.

“We are delighted with the overwhelming interest in Anguilla as evidenced through the business meeting engagements and support received during Caribbean Marketplace 2015,” said Mrs. Richardson. “The destination is currently enjoying a robust winter season and the desk-side meetings secured over the two days, with strategic buyers, tour operators and wholesalers will strengthen our presence in the marketplace and further promote the destination and all it has to offer. CHTA Marketplace continues to be the ideal platform for the Tourist Board and stakeholders to share the latest news, developments, vacation options and events from the island scheduled for the coming year.”

ATB’s Chairman Hodge noted, “The high level of business engagements and the continuity of Anguilla’s strong presence and performance throughout the past year is evidence of the ATB’s hard work and dedication to the destination’s advancement in the marketplace. Given Anguilla’s strong positioning as a premier vacation destination within the marketplace, it imperative that the ATB focus on increasing all efforts to grow the island’s tourism business. With the help of CHTA Marketplace, considered the most important event on the tourism business calendar, and a vital aspect of the marketing development for all Caribbean destinations, we are optimistic that we will indeed be successful in achieving our objectives for 2015.”
