The Royal Anguilla Police Force began its round of Drug Awareness Resistance Education, DARE graduations for the 2015 with the Orelia Kelly Primary School this morning Monday 2nd February, 2015.
The graduation which was also attended by some parents of the graduating class was chaired by WPC Augustina Carbon one the two officers who deliver the program throughout the six (6) Government Primary Schools as well as the Albena lake Hodge Comprehensive School Campus B and the Teacher Gloria Omululu International School. She was ably assisted by PC Shawn Lake who is the other officer who assists with the delivery of the program.
The key note address was presented by Insp. Slyvia Hodge of the RAPF who encouraged the student to use the information gained during the presentation of the DARE program to their advantage.
During the program Mya Martin and A’jeanique Joseph were awarded first place honours for their DARE report whilst Maiesha Minette and T’shara Rogers were presented with second place honours. Also honoured during the graduation were Abigail Proctor and Carlee Gumbs for first place in the poster competition and Dennica Gumbs and A’jeanique Joseph for second place.
Remarks were also made by the Head teacher of the School Tr. Paula Etienne.
This is the 8th year that the RAPF have been partnering with the Education Department in presenting this very useful program to our young people with the aim of creating in them a mindset that will make each and every one of them productive citizens.
