The AUF emphasises that Othlyn Vanterpool is the only AUF candidate in District One. The AUM predicts that when I am elected I shall defect to the AUF.
It is nonsense, and both parties know that it is nonsense to suggest that only members of the two main parties can influence the course of government.

Indeed Jerome and Othlyn both go so far as to say that an elected representative in opposition has no power – that there is only power if you are a member of the governing party.

Think about the logic of that. If Jerome wins in District Two, but the AUM is in the overall minority, can we expect him to flip-flop again and join the AUF?

My present position is clear. I am an independent candidate in District One. I am contesting the election to ensure that our people have a voice in the House of Assembly and that we will not be left behind.

I believe that at this time in Anguilla’s history it is important for me to maintain my ability to support whatever policies I consider to be in the best interests of District One and the Anguillian people, and to propose and pursue policies of my own for which I shall seek the support of whichever party has the vision to embrace them.

That means that if you are an AUF or an AUM supporter, and your party has a policy that truly puts the best interests of Anguillians foremost, you should vote for me in this election. By remaining independent, I shall be able to put Anguilla and Anguillians first, instead of party political expediency.

As I have said before, I believe that Anguilla needs statesmen who will always secure the interest of Anguilla first. I give you the assurance that I will put the interest of the people, especially the interest of the people of District One, first always.

I believe in the politics that fulfill the needs of the people before those of any political party or representative. We need leadership that will stimulate sustainable jobs, good governance and safe communities for our people.

May God Bless Anguilla

Pam Webster
