Ms Palmavon Webster, the Independent Candidate for District 1 (Island Harbour), in the upcoming general election in Anguilla, has warned that she will not sit by and allow persons to use the immunity of the House of Assembly to wrongfully attack her. She has challenged them to come out in the open to do so.
She said the persons involved in the “campaign of lies would not repeat what they are saying outside the cowardly shelter of parliamentary privilege. That’s how you will tell they are lies.” She was at the time speaking at public meeting on Saturday night, January 17.
The Independent Candidate continued: “Just like I wrote in The Anguillian, just like I said on the Mayor Show today, just like I am telling you now, in the sound of my voice – trust me, trust me on this: if you come on a public platform and you say those lies, you will live to regret it for a long, long time.
“They said Pam deliberately formed a company with a name similar to that of Anguilla Finance Ltd in which they lied and said that I was the sole director. I was never the sole director…They insinuated that I did so in order to syphon off monies contributed by Government for the benefit of Anguilla Finance Ltd.

“Where they got those ideas from, or how they imagined them, is beyond me as the company they were referring to was for many, many years before Anguilla Finance Ltd. I ceased to be a director long before Anguilla Finance was even dreamt of; and that company has been dormant with no revenue from any source – much less from Anguilla Finance Ltd.”
She continued: “And do you know what I think, those people are cowards. They are just cowards. The truth is….they are afraid to face the people because of their dismal performance in Government. They are afraid to face it; they are afraid to tell the people what they are going to do this time around…”

She charged that the persons she referred to were making the unfounded attacks on her “to cover their poor record as caretakers of Anguilla’s business”.
“Let them think again,” the Independent Candidate warned. “They think Pam Webster is a soft target?…Beware of the sleeping dog. Don’t mash his tail. When they attack my professional reputation, when they challenge my integrity, with lies, if they do not hear, they will feel.”
