On December 22nd the AXA Cares Food Bank distributed over 100 gift boxes of foodstuffs to families around the island. With the help of a number of volunteers in each of the communities, who willingly picked up the boxes and delivered them to homes, this is the third Christmas that the Food Bank has been able to supply food boxes to families who, for various reasons, needed a bit of assistance.
This year’s Christmas boxes were greatly enriched by support from the Anguilla Freemasons Association, Jacula, DaVida, E’s Oven, and Fat Cat. For their help we are truly appreciative.
The Food Bank functions thoughout the year supplying basic food items to families who are struggling to provide food to their households. Thanks to David Hodge at Tropical Distributors for warehouse space to put the boxes together.
Ashley’s, Proctor’s, Lake’s, and Best Buy all have a Food Bank barrel at the front of their stores where individual shoppers can drop prepared bags of food they can pick from a cart the stores keep stocked for the Food Bank. Each prepared bag dropped into the barrel is greatly appreciated and is of great help to an Anguillian family. Unique Store and Mega Savers give on going special assistance to the Food Bank.
The Food Bank sincerely appreciates the generous support through the year from the Anguilla Craft Group, the Mahogany Grove Lutheran Church, Mr and Mrs John Barker, Mr and Mrs Paul Carmichael as well as a number of individuals who have donated during the year.
