Seven nights of fun-filled activities commenced on Wednesday, December 17, at the historic trough in The Valley, where the Lions Community is celebrating the Christmas spirit in a grand way.
The opening of the event was marked by five processions of drummers comprising the Boys Brigade, Pathfinders (in three categories of Ambassadors, Conquerors, Masters) and the Police/Community Band. The drum corps started at different locations in The Valley, South Valley, North Valley and North Side.
The drumming groups presented individual performances at the trough, decorated with scenes of the Nativity, a performing stage, the lighted main tamarind tree, and the lighted trunks of the mahogany trees lining the road to the west and to the east.
The scheduled events have as their theme: “Spreading the Joy and Love of Christmas”. The programme of events over the seven nights includes the following:
Wednesday, December 17: entertainment by DJ Legend, the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School Steel Orchestra, DJ Kue and Wild Outs.
Thursday, December 18: Digicel’s Christmas Bingo.
