Seven nights of fun-filled activities commenced on Wednesday, December 17, at the historic trough in The Valley, where the Lions Community is celebrating the Christmas spirit in a grand way.

The opening of the event was marked by five processions of drummers comprising the Boys Brigade, Pathfinders (in three categories of Ambassadors, Conquerors, Masters) and the Police/Community Band. The drum corps started at different locations in The Valley, South Valley, North Valley and North Side.

The drumming groups presented individual performances at the trough, decorated with scenes of the Nativity, a performing stage, the lighted main tamarind tree, and the lighted trunks of the mahogany trees lining the road to the west and to the east.
The scheduled events have as their theme: “Spreading the Joy and Love of Christmas”. The programme of events over the seven nights includes the following:

Wednesday, December 17: entertainment by DJ Legend, the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School Steel Orchestra, DJ Kue and Wild Outs.

Thursday, December 18: Digicel’s Christmas Bingo.
Friday, December 19: Digicel’s Family Fun Day and entertainment by DJ Sugar.
Saturday, December 20: Jordel ‘Fufi’ Gumbs Caribbean Food Fair, powered by LIME 4G; and entertainment by DJ Jonny, DJ Legend, De Movements Band and True Intentions.
Sunday, December 21: Department of Youth & Culture Christmas Fair and entertainment by DJ Latest.
Saturday, December 27: Soca Entertainment Night and Entertainment by DJ Jeanie.
Friday, January 2: LIME Old Timers Entertainment Night and entertainment by DJ Kue and North Sound International.

The trough, historically used as a source of water for animals, will be a delightful place for large crowds this Christmas with its varied events.
