The Anguillian is saddened and shocked by the sudden death of Mr Brian Hughes, son of the Honourable Chief Minister, Mr Hubert Hughes, and Mrs Norma Hughes, and wishes to convey heartfelt condolences to them, his siblings and the entire Hughes’ family.

Brian’s passing, on Wednesday afternoon, December 17, is even more painful in view of the approaching Christmas Season, and the joy, peace and fellowship it would have otherwise brought to the sorrowing family.

The distressing news was first broken in an official statement by the Hon. Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mrs Barbara Webster Bourne.

She said she wanted to inform the public that the sitting of the House was off for the rest of the day. Members of Parliament were at the time debating the 2015 Budget. The Speaker explained that the suspension of the House was due to a death in the family of the Honourable Chief Minister and Leader of Government Business.

May the soul of Mr Brian Hughes rest in peace.
