The Valley, Anguilla – 2 December 2014: Anguilla’s twelfth race against HIV/AIDS was successfully held on Saturday, 29 November 2014, under the theme ‘Raise Awareness, Make a Difference”. The hope is that through the annual race, awareness and understanding of HIV and AIDS will continue to increase in local and regional communities, thus helping to reduce the stigma associated with this condition.
This annual charity event which was, this year, organised by the Optimist Club of Anguilla, in collaboration with the Departments of Youth and Culture, the Department of Sports and representatives from other agencies, offered the opportunity for all levels of runners and walkers of varying ages to participate. As in past years, over 100 persons registered and participated in the race including a contingent of young athletes from the Roots Athletics Club in Antigua, athletes from Diamond Athletics and Rainbow Rockets in Anguilla, staff and guests from Viceroy Resort and CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa and students from several primary schools. Congratulations are extended to all participants of the race.
The Optimist Club of Anguilla is grateful to the sponsors and to all who contributed in some way to making the race a success.
