This week, scores of students submitted a mass of science projects and exhibits for the Annual Science Fair, of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, which was mounted and judged at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium.
Science Curriculum Officer, Mr Winston Duncan, said the exhibition featured the work of students from all forms of the school. “The Science Fair, for the past seven years, has been sponsored by National Commercial Data Services (NCDS),” he told The Anguillian.
“The aim of the fair is two-fold: one, for the students to show what they have been learning in the secondary school in regards to science; and two, for them to show their creativity in that a lot of them would be thinking about various projects they would like to do. I think this is the best medium for them to showcase that. Hopefully, if we can get them to participate in regional or international events, and professors see their work, there is a possibility for one or two of them to receive a scholarship.
“However, we are also preparing our students for the future so that they would be able to do something. I think that this is what we need in our society right now: for persons to be able to create things, solve problems and to work with what they have.”
