Police set up barricades at a long section of the main road at Meads Bay where the pond overflowed its banks, sending streams of water cascading across the road way and surrounding low level areas, occasioned by heavy rains.

The road remained covered by the runoff water this week in the aftermath of the prolonged rain over the past several days. The road was either closed to traffic or became a one-way street with some motorists taking the risk crossing the flooded area.
A some seven inches of rain was recorded at West End over the past days, with up to six inches, more or less, in other areas of the island.
The rains began with the passage of Hurricane Gonzalo on Monday, October 13, and continued occasionally thereafter.
