The Anguilla Tourist Board is pleased to announce its support for “Epicurea: Taste. Play. Smile.”, a weekend culinary showcase scheduled for Nov. 6-10, 2014. The inaugural four-day event brings together The Met Golfer, the official publication of the Metropolitan Golf Association, the CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa and Marchesi Antinori Wines to create a unique culinary getaway in the Caribbean. Couples, like-minded individuals, and small groups from Manhattan, Westchester, and the Greater New York area are expected to converge on Anguilla for fine food, well-crafted wines, and outstanding golf at the luxury resort which is located on exquisite Rendezvous Bay.
According to an official press release on the event, four celebrity chefs have been carefully selected to create the delectable gastronomic features of the culinary weekend. Chef Philippe Lusseau and Chef Christophe Muller will travel from France to prepare a nouvelle cuisine tribute dinner in honor of “Chef of the Century” Paul Bocuse. In addition, two chefs with New York ties will prepare delicious culinary features of the weekend: Chef Alex Lee, formerly Executive Chef at Daniel in New York City and currently Executive Chef at Glen Oaks Country Club in the Greater New York Area, and Chef Jasper Schneider, who attended the French Culinary Institute in New York City and now is the Resident Chef at CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa. For those who want a more intimate culinary experience during the Epicurea event, the chefs will offer two opportunities to learn the art of culinary creation in CuisinArt’s Kitchen Stadium, using fresh produce from its comprehensive hydroponic farm – one of only two Resort-based hydroponic farms in the world. CuisinArt’s resident Sommelier, Garmon Greenaway will also offer the opportunity to indulge in the sensual flavors of well-crafted and well-paired wines in attentively orchestrated sampling and pairing sessions.
Guests of Epicurea will also be given the opportunity to experience the $50-million Greg Norman signature golf course that offers breathtaking views of the island and sea, dramatic elevation changes, spectacular water features and challenging holes. Epicurea includes two rounds that may be used for an individual or small group golf experience, or for the fun of the First Annual Epicurea Group Outing. The resort also offers tennis, sailing, snorkeling, garden tours, kayaking and more. For those seeking indoor rejuvenation, the Venus spa is available to indulge in a variety massage, facial or specialty escapes, to clear the mind and relax the soul.
“We are truly excited that the event will be held in concert with exceptional chefs and partners, at a distinguished golf resort, to do something exceptional for cuisine-focused travelers and our readership,” says Rick Summers, CEO of The Met Golfer Magazine.
As part of its efforts to promote the culinary product of the island, the Anguilla Tourist Board, in conjunction with its North America Marketing and Public Relations company, CAMC, will be hosting a culinary press trip to highlight the Epicurea event, and to showcase the award-winning culinary experiences available in Anguilla.
“We are thrilled that such an event has come to the island of Anguilla”, notes Director of Tourism, Candis Niles. “Not only does Epicurea offer us a unique and sophisticated platform upon which to showcase our culinary prowess, but it also serves to drive business to the island in what we consider the shoulder period of our season. We salute Cuisinart Golf Resort and its partners for bringing this event to our shores, and look forward to working with them to support other upcoming initiatives of this nature.”
